Society Among 171 Delaware Valley Businesses of All Sizes to Receive Award Based Solely on Employee Feedback

The Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM) proudly announces that The Philadelphia Inquirer has recognized the organization as a 2023 Top Workplace in Philadelphia. This award is based on the results of a confidential employee survey conducted earlier this year that measured employee engagement, organizational culture drivers and values, work-life balance, and more. SHM is one of 171 organizations in the Delaware Valley in the small, medium, and large categories, to receive this award.

“What makes this award so meaningful is that it is based on our team’s direct feedback,” explains Eric E. Howell, MD, MHM, SHM Chief Executive Officer. “It’s an honor to lead such a dedicated, dynamic staff and feel the affinity that they have for SHM and the members we serve. Their passion and innovation are the foundation of our society’s success.”

In addition to traditional employee benefits, SHM offers team members an array of additional perks and development opportunities, including Summer Fridays, DEI training in partnership with the IVY Consulting Group, professional growth allowances, and more. During the pandemic, SHM transitioned to a work-from-home model, now with one in-office day per month to allow for personal connection and socializing, while still providing the flexibility associated with remote work. Additionally, for the first time since 2019, SHM hosted an in-person holiday party in 2022, allowing for employees to reconnect and meet new hires in a setting outside of the traditional office.
